Man, my blogging has really slowed down lately! I promise I'm actually doing stuff, but I've definitely not been as productive as I'd like. BUT I have a finish to show you tomorrow!
Because of the recent finish, I started a new project last night. Well, I cut the fabric. And then realized that I had miscalculated and needed to buy more. So I started to start a new piece, anyway.
Red is so hard to photograph... any tips?
So after I cut all that, I decided to make a prototype block in a smaller size. Yeah. It was 4am. This block came out at 5 1/2" square. It was supposed to be 8 1/2" square.
At least the fabric I cut was right.
I wait for your finish. Love the red fabrics!
ReplyDeleteWhen taking pictures, think of the colour wheel... and of physics. Red and blue side by side are a pretty difficult combination since you have the energy-rich blue beside the relatively energy-poor red. The "lack" of energy of red is what makes taking pictures so difficult. To make it easier, lay it on top of a energetically low colour. I love using a warm gray.
ReplyDeletethanks so much for the tip!
DeleteCute little block :)
ReplyDeleteTotally envious of your navy stash. I made a wonky star this week too, only mine was way...wonkier. Heh. Save your small block for the back! Make it two friends and do like Michelle just did for her Simply back: http://factotum-of-arts.com/2013/07/16/simply-stars-first-big-finish/ (And pretend like you made it small on purpose.)
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny, that's pretty much the pattern I'm doing! I'm actually almost finished with it already, so hopefully I'll be able to share it soon!
DeleteJust finished a red and blue scrappy quilt. It was so much fun to work with. I like the thought of it made into a wonky star!
ReplyDeleteNice, it looks great! I'm interested in what you're up and will look forward to your next posts. :)
