An Update

I just wanted to let you guys know why I've been MIA... you remember the quilt I made for my grandmother, Georgia On My Mind?

Georgia On My Mind

Well, exactly one week after giving it to her, she passed away. This has been a pretty tough time for me, she and I were very close, and I'm even named after her. Since my Mom's passing last year, my grandmother had been fulfilling some of those 'maternal' voids for me. Having another loss so soon after losing my Mom has been really hard. It sucks, really. Your prayers are appreciated.

BUT. Sewing is my coping mechanism, and I've been doing some of that. I've started a new quilt out of my long-hoarded stash of Luxe in Bloom, so I'll share some of that later this week.

  1. So sorry for your losses, Megan. I agree that sewing is great therapy. Way better than doing dishes even! Ha, ha! I often pray while I am sewing... And I will be praying for you. May you find peace.

  4. So sorry to hear of your loss. I just lost my great grandmother. It was quiet sad, but I threw myself into my quilting and even tackled my drunkards path project.

  5. What a beautiful bride. That's a fantastic picture, she looks like a porcelain doll. Both of my paternal grandparents are gone. I have a picture of them on their wedding day (they eloped, she's wearing a church dress and he is in his formal navy suit) that I just love. I like to image them as young people on the cusp of their lives together and what excitement, hope, and joy they would have felt on that day. It is a nice memory, even if it isnt my own. I'll be thinking about you and your family.

  12. Oh my heart goes out to you. I completely get losing a grandma that was like a second mom to you. I dove into sewing so much in the past year because of that very reason. I am so happy that she got to see her quilt. She must have been so proud of you and your awesome skills. Take care of yourself, breath, and remember to eat! Sending peace your way.
