Honey Honey progress, and another first

I made some progress on Honey Honey last week, chain piecing like its my job again. I really like how this is coming together - this is a great pattern to showcase some really beautiful prints.

But then I had to take a break. Remember when I did my first ever zipper?

Well, I've had another first.

I've never scorched fabric in my life (except, of course, for the cover of my ironing board). This pretty much broke my little heart. I think it happened after I had put the block together completely and was giving it one last press. I had to stop then and there. Those three blocks on the bottom row in the first picture aren't put together.

I need to mourn first.

Then I'll get out the seam ripper.

    1. It happens I hate when my rotary cutter de ides to go a little off track. It looks beautiful so far.

  2. You might be able to save it with some oxi clean before you get out the seam ripper. Oxi clean gel stuff (it's blue and gooey and in a tube type container) has gotten scorch marks out of a block for me before. I just let it sit for about 10 minutes and rinsed it off and the scorch marks were gone.

  3. Oh, no! :-( Is it just the white that got scorched? Can you save the rest of the block?

    1. I'm going to try to clean it with oxi-clean. If that doesn't work, the bulk of the block is fine, so it will just be a few pieces that I'll have to replace. No biggie, but disappointing none the less!
